If there was ever a signpost to our spiritual, mental, social, career, family, financial and personal association to something greater than ourselves, it is the condition of our body.

In the late 90's, my colleague an I, (he's one of the world's important Chiropractors and Cranial Behavioural Therapists) created a list of bio feedback signals that turned body awareness into a whole new science.

We listed ailments from constipation right thr0ugh to acne and hair loss and in case,granted our understanding of the feedback we all could translate from those signals. Our body became "our guide" - No need for Holy Books, structure or Preachers... Your body is the Guru. The Anti Guru Guru.

The Controversy

We shared the book with many communities, together with indigenous communities. The stuff hit the fan practically immediately. Power groups together with organised religions felt their grip on their "brand" of God slipping and argued against the idea claiming that "if you're sick, God's will" or "Your Fault."

In one far North Canadian community where I'd been doing spectacular, work with youth and citizen at risk, my assistant and I got chased out of town by a bunch of radicals. Shot guns and all.. Yahooo

The challenge is not so in the corporeal symptoms but the psychological thinking condition connected bio-feedback.

And this list went on... Controversial on one hand because it places some "responsibility back on the patient" for healing... It also implies a non medical, no psychological intervention in healing. Armed with our science, clients started to "give advice" based on their minimal knowledge - some even set up shop and offered to heal people.

We withdrew the list. Some citizen made money on the back of it, Like "intuitive healers" and books like "Heal Your Body" flipped the understanding upside down. Suggesting the mind can heal the body, but literally it's the opposite, the body can heal the mind.

Insight

If Love is the way we associate to the higher forces of creation, either this be Nature, the Universe, God, Allah or anything it's label, then those things in our own mind that oppose Love must, in essence be the places we need to go explore.

It is easy to sit in a Church or Cave and feel all convinced of the Love that comes to bring condition to life but, what exists in our mind as we walk just 100 meters from that place of worship, that is what determines our wellness, our connection. And so, it's the body that sends us understanding as to where we've blocked the love, for self, other, work, originator or blade of grass.

Saving whales is not love but can be. Having sex is not love, but can be. Work is not love but can be. There are so many avenues for our body to speak, and guide us to where our mind needs healing.

Some Real World Examples:

Marie came to me with her mum. Marie was 17, bone thin, anorexic, depressed and heavily medicated. Her mum was a sophisticated, educated woman, well dressed, elegant and extremely intuitive. Since the age of 12 Marie had suffered illness after illness. Her body was wasting. She'd been diagnosed with chronic Fatigue, thinking condition issues, depression, anorexia and more... This was not a good situation, and as always, I was a last ditch attempt after all the mainstream had exhausted their options.

When the body goes into withdrawal, it's a signpost to a mind that's blocking love. The only inquire is what judgement has been implanted in that mind, and come to be stuck. And the spectacular, thing is, that this judgement is so literally changed, and healed, once it's detected.

Like a detective in an adventure novel, I plainly unravel the case. I go back to 12 to 18 months before the body started changing. I step straight through every variable, each week, each choice, each event seeing for connections.

At the age of 10 Marie was a bring, athletic, inspired girl. Top of her class. By 14 she was ill, weal and depressed. What happened in between those years? With a loving mum by her side, we recounted those trivial moments, that can convert a life. Boyfriends... Na too big, too obvious. Sport.. Na not bright adequate for Marie... Then, wham, we found it. At 12 Marie had to select between Arts and Science in her education. She chose, or had chosen for her on the basis of her greatest quality in Science, the science stream. I asked Marie, "when you were five years old, what was your dream?"

Her mum replied, before Marie could raise her head, "fashion, she wanted to generate a fashion label." Then Marie lifted her eyes to mine, "I used to live for designing clothes, I loved drawing, sketching, imagining, different materials, different clothing, summer, winter, colours. But, they said my natural talent was science" She lowered her head again. Back to her withdrawn space.

Nothing needed to be said. Tears ran down my face. A young spirit crushed by a school system, a particular choice, a lost dream and a house in distress. Her body, Nature's Bible screaming Psalms from every cell, nobody listening. Till now.

I turned to the mother, and got a nod, a clearance to speak. Marie, what if tomorrow we wound the clock back, got you some education in fashion, mum funded a secret sewing room for you to sketch and draw and sew and then generate some of your own, and then others, fashion. Maybe a shop finally after one or two showings and then.... And then.....

Now, you may think I was dangling a carrot in front of a child's eyes, but that's not true. I was reading her own heart, and speaking the dream she'd killed, judged and crushed. There was no chronic fatigue, anorexia or thinking condition problem, her body was plainly doing and saying, what nature intended.

Inverting, or tipping the body so that gravity works with, not against one way valves, helps the relaxed, addition and contracting muscles to push the fluid up to the chest where it is then dumped into veins of the cardio-vascular principles to be cleansed.

Roger Jahnke, Omd writes about the lymph principles from a holistic perspective in his article The Lymph5, describing gravity as one method of lymph propulsion:

Because gravity exerts such a huge force and because lymph has so far to climb to get to the thoracic duct's entry into the sub-clavian vein, any inversion of the limbs or even the prone body position allows for a free flow of lymph unencumbered by the effects of gravity. Elevation of the lower limbs is often prescribed for health problems characterised by a pooling of interstitial fluids.

Also, for centuries yoga practitioners have recognised the thought of turning the body upside down to find relaxation. The head stand position is a form of "postural exchange" (reversing the direction of gravity). Good posture is that body position which best resists gravity. When inverted to 60° the pressure in the spine drops to zero, as shown in the Nachemson healing study1, with the pressure off of the vertebrae and with some diplomatic stretching the vertebra has the chance to move back into alignment.

Inverted decompression reverses the body's position with respect to gravity. Joints that were compressed by gravity in the upright position are now being decompressed, becoming more open and drawing in added oxygen and nutrition. With diplomatic stretching, the joints can simply realign into what we call perfect posture. They are used on fresh fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, processed potatoes, shrimp, wines, and baked products. Unfortunately, they can cause asthma in a small estimate of sensitive individuals.

Msg is a flavor enhancer found in oriental food products, frosty food, canned meats, soups, seasoning, and sauce mixes. It also goes by the name of hydrolyzed vegetable protein, hydrolyzed plant protein, and natural flavorings. It can trigger asthma symptoms in some people.

Tartrazine, on the other hand, is a yellow dye used in many yellow and yellow/orange packaged foods, beverages, cakes, candies, vitamins and medicines. It brightens the appearance of these products but can also induce asthma attacks in unavoidable people who are also allergic to aspirin.

As early as 1903, he wrote: "Imagine the folly of narrowing an air tube when desiring to force a larger volume of air straight through it: and yet this is exactly what occurs in lowly breath-taking." When Alexander began teaching his method, he was known as the "breathing man" because he was able to help so many of his students gain the full use of their breathing mechanisms.

Could it be that asthmatics are particularly prone to constricting their nasal and throat passages when trying to take deep breaths? And could it be that this is caused by poor breathing habits, habits that may well have been learned in early childhood? If so, reeducation of the sort the Alexander Technique provides could make a huge inequity in their lives.
